Everything Was Falling Apart - Real Life Stories

I was going through a period in my life where everything was turned upside down. I was at a job that required me to work over 55 hours a week, my home life was very stressful, and I had started to distance myself from friends and family.

My job started to become a very hostile environment. Life at home was even more hostile. I started to see everything that I had worked so hard for falling apart. I would cry myself to sleep at night and would cry at work in between breaks. One day at work, I couldn’t catch my breath. I had the biggest panic attack that I had ever had at my desk. They called 911, and I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The doctor came in and told me he was going to put me on medicine that would stop the panic attacks. However, I wouldn’t be able to work or drive a motor vehicle. The medicine would basically keep me sleepy and sedated all day long. I went to the pharmacy to have the prescription filled, and the pharmacy told me the medicine was on backorder. As soon as the shipment came in, they would call me.

I went home and cried out to God. I began to pray Mathew 18:18.

“Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Real Life Stories

I began to use my authority and quote God’s word. I never had another panic attack from that day forward. For about like to this type of inspirational story Visit : www.reallifestoriesbooks.com

A Christmas Gift for God - Real Life Stories Of Hope

Christmas can be a disturbing holiday as the challenges of gift giving, card sending, and entertaining weigh heavily on our time, our minds, and our bank accounts. It’s easy to lose sight of the reason we Witnessing Made Easy: Yes, You Can Make a Difference xiii celebrate Christmas: to honor the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I find that if I’m not careful, my Bible reading time diminishes rather than increases just before Christmas, despite my desire to do the opposite. My only remedy has been to devote much of Christmas Day to reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Passing one jammed shopping mall after another during the fall of 2006, I began to wonder why no one ever thinks of giving a gift to God for Christmas. After all, the three magi had presented gifts to Jesus when He was born. Surely, we should continue to give gifts to Him. The more I thought about that omission, the more convinced I became that some people would welcome the idea of enrolling in the contest to lead more souls to the Lord as a Christmas gift to God. Having had some success in the past with putting out press releases, I took this route to share my idea in the usual way.

The response was muted. The secular press just didn’t seem very interested, and the Christian media hadn’t seemed to notice the release. After that disappointing result, I did a little online research and found that there were outlets for press releases that go solely to Christian Testimony media. I rewrote the earlier press release a little and sent it out via some of those services. I was pleased to find out that it was much less expensive to send out such a release solely to Christian media than to all media. The response was very encouraging this time. Many Christian news outlets briefly summarized the contest, and inquiries about the contest rapidly picked up. I was also interviewed for some printed articles and drive-time radio programs. Because of the long lead times involved with some of the stories, I decided to extend the end date for entries from January 31, 2007, to Easter 2007. That also seemed like a logical ending time for finishing a commitment made to God as a Christmas gift in 2006.

I was delighted to find that not only had the quantity of contest inquiries increased, but the quality of the most recent ideas provided some real eye-openers, as well. I was equally impressed that the ideas didn’t duplicate one another; people were finding vastly different, effective ways to reach those who didn’t know and accept Jesus. Preface xiv Not surprisingly, the tools of mass communication appealed to some. If you can televise programs around the world where no one is now seeing Christian messages, you can begin to create fertile furrows in unplowed fields. One report showed that by spending $110 in Kenya to televise an hour-long DVD, eleven people reported that they were saved and five others volunteered to work as Evangelism Tool. That apparently low cost per person contrasted with some e-mails I received that estimated a cost of more than $10,000 per person saved for some major evangelical events in the United States. Radio was also described as a possible answer. One man reported that he had found a way to establish Christian radio stations for less than 1 percent of the usual cost.

He had several stations operating in Canada and planned to expand to about a hundred more around the world. He reported that relatively few of his listeners had ever heard a Christian message before. One man wanted to tap into the tremendous flows of tourists who seek entertainment. His idea was to build a Christian-themed multimedia experience in Branson, Missouri, where believers could bring their friends to learn about God’s promises. But most people had the opposite feeling about employing mass media: They saw energizing the vast numbers of Christians as the best way to help lead more souls to Him. After all, if each Christian would speak to just a few non-Christians, the potential for Him to open unsaved hearts would be tremendous. As you can imagine, there are some amazing individual evangelists: They can walk up to anyone, quickly establish powerful rapport, and talk easily about becoming saved after just a few general sentences. Some of these people contacted me and shared their testimonies. One man even sent a book describing his methods. His approach was so well thought out that it could have been a role model for recruiting sergeants trying to find the next 100,000 U.S. Army troops. Gradually, I began to hear from people who had focused on taking insecure believers and turning them into effective witnesses. What was the lesson? Directing Christians to help lead more souls to Him is an ongoing educational task of the church that deserves to be part of Witnessing Made Easy: Yes, You Can Make a Difference xv every worship service. Yes, that’s right. People need to be reminded to share their faith during each service and to receive practical training in doing so. What’s the biggest hurdle to getting Christians to share their faith? Many Christians are delighted to be saved, but don’t feel like they have an obligation to help anyone else become saved. Without the desire to help the unsaved, there’s little benefit gained by instructing people in how to accomplish that task.

Day of Redemption - REAL LIFE STORIES BOOKS

Jesus gave His Blood, His Life, so all your sins could be forgiven. Jesus paid your penalty for sin; in full.

Now it’s up to you to accept or reject what Jesus has done for you.

God is inviting you into a personal relationship with Him as your Heavenly Father and Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Jesus came to show you the way because you are passionately loved and wanted. Jesus, before He was resurrected, said to His disciples, “…He who has seen me has seen the Father.” John 14:9

If you repent for breaking God’s Law and put your trust in Jesus, when God looks at you, He will not see a liar, a thief, an adulterer, or a law breaker but he will see a person that Jesus has redeemed from the curse of the Law, one that Jesus paid the full penalty for their sin. God will see the Blood of Jesus that has washed you as white as snow. Only through Jesus can you be right with God.

Why Am I Miserable - Real Life Stories Books

There was a great sadness in our home.

The unseen sadness was passed on deep in my psyche.

The great sadness never left me, until...

I grew up with decent parents who took us to church regularly. Christian rules were good for avoiding a lot of trouble. But ever since I can remember, there was a great sadness in our home and in my life. When I was five years old, I remember pretending to be asleep in the car while we drove to my grandparents’ home for the first time because I didn’t want to get out and meet them. Dad was moody. I learned to keep my mouth shut around him. So then he made fun of me for being quiet. Years later, I learned about his abusive childhood. Amazingly he never abused us physically or sexually, but his tongue was sharp and cut my heart and soul. Mom was quiet and never said anything to him about how cruel his words were. My parents struggled from their own unseen abuse and lack of love. They did the best they could, but the unseen sadness was passed on deep in my psyche.

I moved out and went to university. I became a professional with a good job as a single woman. Life looked good, but the great sadness never left me. I continued going to church regularly but found very few true friends there. It was a show. It wasn’t safe to open up about what was really going on. There was no way to get help for doubts and problems because “good church people don’t have problems” supposedly.

Eventually, I married and had kids. The great sadness was mostly hidden. It was so familiar that I just took it for granted as part of life. As life’s stress increased and didn’t let up, the great sadness could no longer be ignored. I was a Christian, somehow walking in spiritual defeat. “God, why doesn’t my life match up to what’s in Your Bible?” “Why am I miserable?” “I want the real deal.”

I went to a Christian freedom retreat weekend and got saved! God never left my side all those years. He led me to His Tree of Life. As an older grey-haired woman, I finally SURRENDERED ALL of me and my life to Him. Everything I own, every person I hold dear, and every bit of my body and soul is His. He is in charge! The great sadness is gone! I feel exhilarated! Just like the people in the Bible, I can tell family and friends this story without feeling shy or embarrassed. It would have been embarrassing to tell people I’ve gone to church and followed the rules but haven’t surrendered to God the Creator! The freedom retreat was simply a place and time for me to bow my head and pray my own words of surrender.

I am happier. I don’t try to guess how things are going to turn out. It’s all in God’s capable hands. I can relax and trust Him. My free time (from not worrying) is welcomed by my family to spend with them. God is taking up the slack. He is replacing my emptiness and trepidation with love and boldness. Over time, it is a slow process of blossoming. Without love, we truly are nothing.

Every now and then, the Devil pours his custom marinade of self-pity over me. Sometimes, I wallow in it for a little while before recognizing it, remembering God is BIGGER than every life circumstance. If I quit, get anxious, or criticize, I am cursing and dishonoring Him. For the rest of my life, God is calling me out to HONOR HIM!

Day of Salvation - Real Life Stories Books

How do I get saved from the curse of the law? How do I get saved from being forever separated from God? How do I get saved from the Fires of Hell?

  1. Admit that you have broken God’s Law.
  2. Ask God to forgive you.
  3. Confess Jesus as the Son of God.
  4. Confess that Jesus died on the cross for your sins.
  5. Confess that Jesus arose from the dead.

Salvation Testimonies

The Bible says:

For salvation that comes from trusting Christ --- which is what we preach --- is already within easy reach of each of us; in fact, it is as near as our own hearts and mouths. For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation. For the Scriptures tell us that no one who believes in Christ will ever be disappointed. Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect; they all have the same Lord who generously gives his riches to all those who ask him for them. Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

I GOT SO SICK & TIRED OF MY LIFESTYLE

In my sophomore year of high school, I started to drink and party. One beer turned to smoking pot. I started to bar hop and get deep into rock and roll music. Between the years of 14-24, I just loved to get drunk and party. My girlfriend was pregnant, we married and we had a daughter, Jennifer. Her mother left me shortly after that. The next three years of my life were lost years. I had no idea of my purpose in life. I played and loved baseball. I tried out for a major league, but I wasn’t good enough to make a living out of it.

At age 21, I started going to different race tracks. It was then that I started gambling and betting on horses. This was the worst time of my life. I loved the high of winning and seeing your horse cross the finish line. But every time I bet, I lost 90% of the time. Even when I won, I would lose the money the next day. I would lose my whole paycheck on those Friday nights and would scrape through the week. Some weeks I would go 6 days a week.

I would remember leaving the race track in 1979 with no money. I started crying out to God. I constantly would think, what is wrong with me? I didn’t realize that God was dealing with me. I know now that the Holy Spirit was showing me the way out of my mess.

God was creating in me a clean heart and renewing in me a right spirit.

I started hating what I was doing and just started begging God to change my life and help me. I got so sick and tired of my life style. I started hating the bar life and partying. I was tired of getting drunk all the time and being high on drugs. The gambling addiction had messed me up so bad, I never had money. Then, one day I saw this church that I drove by 9 months earlier. I said, I am going to give up this life of sin and I am going to serve God 100%. That week-end I went to the race track that last time and had my last beer. That Sunday morning I went to that church and totally surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I was ready to live like the apostles of old. God’s presence was guiding me and preparing me for a divine appointment with Him. I renounced all my wicked ways. I asked God to deliver me from addictions of gambling, drugs and drinking. I remember just crying and crying because God was totally changing my life. Three days later, a scripture just lifted up my heart. It said, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creation.” I used to always wonder about when people would say, “Are you saved?” I now know what they meant. Old things passed away! For me, that meant drinking, gambling, drugs.

February 2, 1980 Sunday morning, Oh what a day! That was the day when I made an absolute surrender to God. I gave my life to Jesus and I experienced a new life in Christ. Old things passed away and all things became new. I use to wonder about that phrase, “born again “what did that mean? I loved God, grew up in a beautiful Christian home, but I had no idea what born again was all about. I knew about God but to have a real relationship, I never knew. I did not know a life like this could exist.

It’s been 35 years now and I have never gone back to those old ways. I now go around sharing the new and everlasting Christian Books of Jesus Christ. That sinner, you don’t have to sin anymore! Jesus saves from sin, sickness, and death! Jesus came to restore our lives! God Bless you as you read this and may you find God our Father through Jesus Christ by His power and the wonder working presence of His Holy Spirit. And Jesus would say to you, “Come unto me! Only believe and I will give and show you everlasting life. Behold! I am with you! Ron – Whiting, Indiana 773-704-2441 , Real Life Stories .

I got her address and we posted our complete Discipleship DVD Series to her along with the New Testement  Bible on CD.

Indiana Regional Unity Gatherings - Real Life Stories Books

In December, 2012 as Jim Barbarossa prepared to speak a message at a Saturday night meeting, he kept hearing the word “Unity” over and over again in his spirit. Then God directed Jim to go look in an old file cabinet in his garage. To Jim’s amazement in the back of this old file cabinet were 30 messages Jim wrote as a baby Christian, 18 years earlier. One of those messages was on the topic of “Unity” in the Body of Christ.

Jim preached that “Unity” Message on December 22, 2012.

You can watch the “Unity” message video at our website: www.reallifestoriesbooks.com.

Shortly after preaching the “Unity” message, the Father told Jim to call a meeting of leaders, elders and 5-fold ministers for the purpose of joining hands and working together to equip the saints to go beyond the walls of our buildings to reach and disciple the lost.

On January 20, 2013 the Father brought together forty 5-fold ministers representing a diversity of 12 churches scattered throughout three Northwest Indiana counties, including the cities of Valparaiso, Porter, Chesterton, Portage, Gary, Michigan City, St. John, plus Hazelcrest, IL and Chicago, IL.

Four things all of the ministers present have in common is their love for Jesus, their desire for more of Jesus, a passion to reach lost souls and a hunger to see revival in our land!

One additional thing most of us, if not all, held in common, in the natural, we were all too busy to even consider attending this gathering in light of everything else we had to do.

But, we did attend and after introducing ourselves, we discussed the purpose of the gathering and then we began to pray as the Holy Spirit led.

Inter-mixed between the prayers, God spoke prophetically using various gifts to confirm His call and purpose for the “Unity” Gatherings and what to expect in the future.

As we prayed we could sense a shift taking place in the atmosphere.

At one point a symbolic prophetic act took place as every person stood on their feet, symbolizing the army of God rising up. This was followed by the sounding of the Shofar accompanied by a declaration of war, as the army of God called upon our Leader with a “Unified” shout, “Jesus”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was such freedom in the atmosphere. It was such a joy to see the 5-fold ministry gifts working in unity complimenting each other in the body of Christ!

I wish I could find words to express the fullness of this experience, but this is one of those times where words fail to fully describe what happened.

The meeting I just described has “birthed” in the following locations what we now call “Indiana Regional Unity Gatherings!”

For dates, times and exact locations, visit us on our website: www.reallifestoriesbooks.com

Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland Regional Unity Gathering, Chesterton, Indiana

Central Indiana Regional Unity Gathering, Indianapolis, Indiana

LaPorte/St Joseph County Regional Unity Gathering, LaPorte, Indiana

Northeast Indiana Regional Unity Gathering, Angola, Indiana

South Central Indiana Regional Unity Gathering, Corydon, Indiana

Southwest Indiana Regional Unity Gathering, Paragon, Indiana

We believe these 6 Regional Unity Gatherings are the “firstfruits” of 20 or more that will be started in the State of Indiana.

Regional Unity Gatherings are not the planting of a new church.

Regional Unity Gatherings are not the starting of a new denomination.

Regional Unity Gatherings are calling God’s Leaders, across all denominational lines to join hands in unity and take the Gospel message beyond the walls of our buildings, out into our cities to reach and disciple the lost. If you are God’s leader, no matter what your title is (bishop, elder, pastor, priest, apostle, teacher, missionary, sent one, evangelist, prophet, youth pastor, or some other), no matter what part of the body you represent, no matter what denomination, no matter what stream, no matter what flow, God is calling us to join hands and carry His gospel into our cities and regions to reach and disciple the lost.

It is Time the lost people in our cities come to know God, through the love that we demonstrate for one another!! If we will come together and work in unity, God will Command His Blessing towards us! It is Time for the City Wide Church and Regional Church to Arise!

Regional Unity Gatherings Function As A 5-Fold Ministry Where Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors And Teachers Work Together To Equip The Saints To Do The Work Of The Ministry. Regional Unity Gatherings Are Part Of “The Church” With A Call To Come Along Side Other Parts Of “The Church” And Work In Unity With The Whole Body Of Christ To Move The Saints Beyond The Walls Of Our Buildings, Out Into The Community With The Training And Tools They Need To Reach And Disciple The Lost.

To help us fulfill our mission to reach the lost, disciple them and equip the saints we have 2 Free Resource tables in every Regional Unity Gathering.

Evangelism Resource Table: This table is filled with tracts, outreach gospel CDs, and Real Life Stories Christian Testimony Books. The people attending these Regional Unity Gatherings are encouraged to take these Free evangelism tools and use them over the next 30 days to reach the lost and come back with a report or testimony of what God is doing!

Discipleship or Equipping Table: This table is filled with books as well as messages on cds, and dvds. These messages are the best of the best and designed to equip or disciple the saints. Saints need a steady diet of faith-building messages to be equipped and we encourage the saints to take these Free Resources for their personal growth and to then pass them on to help disciple or equip others. Regional Unity Gatherings provide the saints with the tools they need to reach and disciple the lost!

United Community Outreach: In addition to equipping the saints to be effective witnesses and disciples in everyday life, we also want to bring the saints together from all the different parts of the Body of Christ in a City or Region to join hands and do, simple, yet effective outreach projects in the Community to touch lives and reach lost people!

You can see a sampling of these types of outreach projects on our DVD titled “Going beyond the Walls - City Wide Church - How to go beyond the Walls of Our Buildings as One Voice to Reach and Disciple the Lost in Our Cities”.

I encourage you to read how I found happiness – Real Life Stories Books

Are you lonely and unhappy? Are you looking for something to fill your innermost being that gives you happiness? I encourage you to read how I found happiness, a happiness that was obtained by finding out something about God, I never knew before.

I am the youngest of seven children. My parents were faithful in taking our family to a Christian church on a regular basis. But my father passed away when I was six, leaving my mother to care for all of us. My mother worked hard to fill the void he left. She did well, but I missed my Daddy dearly.

Spiritually, I am very thankful for the Christian exposure I received in my childhood. Even though I eventually strayed from God after making a profession of faith to Jesus Christ at age 13, I still had some knowledge of right and wrong. I believe this kept me from straying even farther than what I did.

In my teens and early twenties, loneliness held a grip on me. In my ignorance of the ways Satan leads one away from Jesus Christ, I began to look for peace and happiness with the party crowd. After all, they looked "happy." I began going to bars and places where I could drink and dance looking in all the wrong places to meet the man of my dreams; a man who would take away my loneliness and give me a purpose in life. Along with meeting men came alcohol, drugs and sex. It all came with the package.

I soon discovered "happiness" became an elusive term. The few times I was happy didn’t make up for all the times I was miserable. I seemed to attract men who simply wanted to use me for their own selfish purposes. These relationships only brought hurt, pain, and rejection. Little did I realize that having sexual intimacy with a man and hinging an entire relationship on that is one of Satan's greatest tools for leading people in relationships for all the wrong reasons.

I was tired of being rejected. At age 26, I was miserable beyond description. I was tired of being left and rejected. I was tired of not having a man to give love to and receive love from that had any lasting duration. I came to the realization that my life was going nowhere. Have you ever felt that way? It's an ever-present feeling that makes you wonder why you're here on earth. I always wondered why I was even born and what purpose my life had.

It was around that time my thoughts began to drift to an old girlfriend I had partied with in the past. Her name was Hattie, and I wondered if she was still happy. We had always been close, until she became one of those “fanatic” Christians. Her life had changed dramatically, and even though she was happy, I felt she was too religious to hang around anymore. I willfully lost contact with her for six years. One evening I began watching a Billy Graham crusade on TV. I reasoned in my mind, “Even though she is religious, she can still be my friend.”

I was lonely for companionship. The next evening, I was at a bar, which was typical of me on a Friday night. I went to a pay phone to give Hattie a call. She was glad to hear from me. We talked, reminiscing over old memories, and catching up on friends from our past. Our conversation ended by her saying she would call me back soon. Two weeks went by; she didn't call. Finally, I decided I'd call her one last time. If she couldn't make plans for us to get together, I'd just forget her. So, I called. Fortunately for me, she was there. Toward the end of our conversation, she invited me to a young people's potluck that was being sponsored by her church. After we hung up, I began thinking. “I need a change. Why not? What would it hurt?”

During that potluck, I sat there staring at these beautiful people. There was a glow about them I had never seen on anyone. Their faces radiated with peace and joy. Their words were so gentle and kind. They also had a worship time of singing to the Lord. There was a young woman who shared a song called “I Am A Servant” that touched my heart. It brought me to tears.Even now every time I hear it, it still has the same effect on me. I had no idea at the time how the message of that song would apply to me in my own life down the road. I would like to share with you the words of this song:

I am a servant, I am listening for my name I sit here waiting, I've been looking at the game That I've been playing, And I’ve been staying much the same. When you are lonely, you're the only one to blame

I am a servant - I am waiting for Your call I've been unfaithful, so I sit here in the hall How can You use me when I have never given all How can You choose me when You know I quickly fall

So He feeds my soul and He makes me grow And He lets me know He loves me I am worthless now but I've made a vow I will humbly bow before Him Oh please use me - I am lonely

I am a servant getting ready for my part There's been a change, a rearrangement in my heart At last I'm learning there's no returning once I start To live's a privilege, to love is such an art But I need your help to start - O please purify my heart I am your servant

Later on in the evening, many of them were asked to testify of how they had entered a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They shared how it had changed their life for the better. Each of them gave glory to God for doing it all, because it was not anything they could do to change themselves. They said it was God doing it through them by His Holy Spirit.

When I left that night, I felt so much love and peace, but I left with many unanswered questions. This truly was another stepping stone the Lord was putting before me on my search to really know Him. After the potluck, Hattie & Rob (her boyfriend then and husband now) walked me and my friend who came with me out to my car. As Rob was talking to me and Hattie was talking to my friend, I remember him saying to me that if I felt something different that night, I owed it to myself to really check it out. Deep down I really wanted what they had, not knowing at the time it was Jesus I was searching for. They led me by car that night, showing me where their church was.

Two weeks later I decided to surprise Hattie by showing up unexpectedly at her church. There were so many faces I recognized from my old party days, and I loved being there. From then on, I started attending that church. I eventually gave my whole heart and life to Jesus Christ. I asked Him to not only be my Savior, but also be the Lord of my life. This is what I unknowingly neglected to do at age 13. Lordship, I was soon to learn, was not obtainable without having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The loneliness and lack of peace I had experienced before began to leave. It was replaced with peace and joy I know now only Jesus can give. I found myself surrounded with a whole new set of friends, and the loneliness was replaced with the hunger and thirst I now had to grow in Christ. I came to realize that no man could give me what I really stood in need of, which was the peace and security of knowing who I am in Christ Jesus. Whether I live or die, I know I have eternal life in and through Him. Jesus Christ is my closest friend. Problems and suffering drive me to Him, not away from Him. He always rescues and comforts me.

It’s been 39 years now in my living for Jesus Christ. He has been so faithful to me. He has added many things I had deeply desired within my heart. One of those desires was to marry a man, someone who loved Jesus Christ more than he loved anyone, anything else, or even me. I wanted someone I could share Christ with, not about. Thankfully, 36 of those years have been with the man who God so faithfully has given me as my husband. I never knew how a relationship with a man could be with Christ in the center.

It is through this marriage that I am learning to depend and trust more in Christ to meet my every need. My husband can never meet them all, nor can I meet all his. Even though I knew this before I got married, I am learning that even with a husband, Jesus Christ wants me to be totally dependent on and trusting in Him. When I do this, there is no leanness in my relationship with God or in my marriage. It takes the pressure off my husband in asking him to do things he is not capable of doing. I take great comfort in knowing that God is faithful to complete that which He has begun in me through my personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

For those of you who have a lack of peace, who fear dying, have something missing, who have no real meaning or purpose in life, or experience loneliness and sense a lack of motivation: I delight in saying that Jesus Christ desires to come and fill those voids in your life. It requires that you let Him have total control of your life. That may seem scary or threatening to some people, but it shouldn't. If this has touched you in any way, please don't go on in life without searching for answers to your questions. My questions brought me to see and realize that only Jesus Christ is the answer to all my needs. I never knew I could be so free within myself. It's all because I decided to follow Jesus, letting Him make me into the person He wants me to be, in His image and for His glory.

Thank you and God bless you for letting me share my heart with you!

Real People in Real Places with Real Problems Looking for a Real Answer

It was August 1995, but I remember it like it was yesterday. My wife Linda was going to this little country church. We had been having trouble with our marriage, so I decided it might help if I was to start going to church with her. I had been going a few months and listening to the preacher, but it seemed like every week that preacher was standing up there talking about me. So I did what a lot of people do. I quit going. I didn’t need that every week.

After I quit going, things got worse. We were arguing, and I told my wife to just leave. I’d had enough. Well, she did. She went to her pastor’s house, and it wasn’t long before he was calling me. He asked if he could come to my house and talk to me. I really didn’t want to hear what he had to say, but I really did like the guy. So I told him I guess he could. It didn’t take him long to get there, and when he showed up he had a little book with him called eternal life. He ask me if he could read the book to me. I didn’t want to hear it, but I didn’t want to be rude so I said, “Sure, go ahead.” He opened that little book and started reading. As he was reading, I was looking at the TV, the ceiling, the walls, anywhere to keep from looking at that little Real Life Stories. Being the good servant of God that he was, he just kept on reading. When he came to the end of the book there was a prayer at the end. He read that little prayer to me and asked me if I would like to pray and ask Jesus in to my life. He said Jesus would give me this eternal life if I would just confess my sins to Jesus with my mouth and believe with my heart. I told him that I didn’t think I was quite ready for that. He said that was fine and maybe I needed to think about it. Then, he

left.

I went on to bed because I had to get up at 3am to make a run to northern Illinois the next day. The next morning I was up by 3 and on the road by 4 headed to Galena, Illinois. I’d been driving about an hour when the tears started pouring out of my eyes. I remember I couldn’t stop crying, and I started talking to God. I said, “God, if there even is a God. I’m not sure if I even believe in God, but if you’re real I need you to show me a sign. I need a sign from God.” Well as I drove on the tears finally stopped. About daylight, I was driving up I-55 when I looked out in the field and there was this little blue sign that looked like it had been out there forever. As I looked at that old weather cracked sign, I read CHRIST IS THE ANSWER. When I read those words I thought, “That’s a sign, that’s a sign from God!”

Then I heard this voice inside my head saying, “That’s not a sign from God. That old worn out sign has been there forever.” Besides, when I asked for a sign from God, that’s not what I meant. I didn’t mean I wanted a sign. I meant I wanted something big something from God. So I started talking to God again, and I told God that wasn’t good enough, that wasn’t what I meant. I needed something else, something from God. So I wiped away my tears and drove on. I remember driving along and talking to God, and by this time I was on I-74 between Peoria and Galesburg, this little white van pulled up beside me. I looked down at this woman in the van. She looked up at me with a funny look on her face, rolled down her window, stuck her arm out the window, and pointed her thumb to the sky. I thought, “What is she doing? What’s that supposed to mean?” Then, as the van went on by, I read on the back of the van it was a church van. When I read those words the first thought that came to my mind was that it was a sign from God.

Then I said, “No, God. That’s not good enough either. That’s not it. That’s not what I wanted.” I wanted something big, something that would leave no doubt that it was from God. I drove on with lots to think about, expecting at any moment something big would happen.

I made it to my destination a little past noon. I started unloading my bulk tanker of explosives. As I was unloading, sitting on top of 46,000

lbs. of explosives, I started talking to God again. I told God that I was still waiting for something big. I don’t really know what I was looking for, but I would know it when I saw it. I had visions of a big bolt of lightning shooting down from the sky. When you’re sitting on 23 tons of dynamite a bolt of lightning is the last thing you want to see, but I was ready and waiting. Well, nothing happened. I finished unloading and left. As I headed east toward Rockford on U.S. 20, I started talking to God again. I remember saying, “God I’m still waiting for my sign, for something big.” I hit Rockford and headed south on I-39. About an hour later I looked to my left, and out in the field was a great big sign. On this sign was the face of Jesus and the words THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! As I looked into the eyes of Jesus and read those words, cold chills started running up and down my spine. Tears started running down my face. I started confessing my sins and trying to remember the prayer that was in the little book that Russ, my wife’s pastor, had read to me. I prayed that prayer the best I could remember it. I prayed a whole lot more just in case that wasn’t enough. The feeling that came over me was indescribable, but it was like I was floating the rest of the way home. Jesus had lifted all my burdens that day. I couldn’t wait to get home, tell my wife, and call Russ who now is my pastor and best friend. The next day the sky was bluer and the grass was greener. Everything had changed! My and Linda’s marriage gets better each and every day. The problems of everyday life are still there, but I don’t have to face them alone. Jesus is always there with me.
